Spokane REALTORS® Endorse 2020 Candidates

Key issues – Home Ownership, Private Property Rights, REALTOR® Industry Protections

All but one of the candidates endorsed by The Spokane Association of REALTORS® and the Washington REALTORS® Political Action Committee have now moved through the primary election and on to the general election November 3rd, 2020. Here are the candidates we endorsed and how they fared.

Washington State Legislature – Senate

Sen. Andy Billig (D)  3rd Leg. Dist.

 

Sen. Andy Billig has been a strong housing supporter and an advocate for REALTORS®. He serves in leadership as the Senate Majority Leader. With a primary total of 58.72% of the vote, he will now advance to the General Election against Dave Lucas (R) with 41.1% of the vote.

 

 

Sen. Mike Padden (R) 4th Leg. Dist.

Sen. Mike Padden has been a good friend to REALTORS® having served as the 4th District’s Senator since 2011. He received 60.81% of the vote in the primary and will advance to face John Roskelley (D) with 33.08% of the vote.

 

 

 

Sen. Mark Schoesler (R) 9th Leg. Dist.

Sen. Mark Schoesler has been a solid private property rights proponent, and serves in the leadership as the Senate Republican Leader. He received 67.59% of the primary vote and will advance to face Jenn Goulet (D) with 32.1% of the vote.

 

 

 

 


Washington State Legislature – House

Rep. Jenny Graham (R) 6th Leg. Dist.

Rep. Jenny Graham has been an advocate for housing and private property rights. She co-sponsored House Bill 2673 that helps better define Growth Management Issues.  She received 54.9% of the vote in the primary and will advance to face Tom McGarry (D) with 29.9% of the vote

 

 

 

 

Rep. Jacquelyn Maycumber (R) 7th Leg. Dist.

Rep. Jacquelin Maycumber has been a strong proponent for property rights and rural development. She serves in leadership as the Washington State House Republican Floor Leader. She received 72.43% of the primary vote and will advance to the General Election to face Georgia Davenport (D) with 27.4% of the vote.

 

 

 

 

Rep. Marcus Riccelli (D) 3rd Leg. Dist.

Rep. Marcus Riccelli has been a longtime supporter of REALTOR® issues. He serves in leadership as the House Majority Whip. He has served in the House since 2012. He will advance to the General Election with 59.61% of the vote to face Laura Carder (R) with 40.17% of the vote.

 

 

 

 

Rep. Mike Volz (R) 6th Leg. Dist.

Rep. Mike Volz has been a strong supporter of property rights and sponsored HB 1926 that would lower penalties for late payment of property taxes. He also serves as the Deputy Treasurer for Spokane County. He will advance to the General Election with 55.01% of the vote to face Zack Zappone (D) with 44.89% of the vote.

 

 

 

 

fmr. Rep. Leonard Christian (R), 4th Leg. Dist.

Former State Representative and REALTOR® Leonard Christian (R) placed third in a field of four candidates with 26.61% of the vote, and will not advance to the General Election. Rob Chase (R) with 33.26% of the vote and Lance Gurel (D) with 34.39% of the vote will face off for the 4th District Legislative seat.

 


Spokane County Commissioner

Spokane Co. Commissioner Josh Kerns (R)

 

 

Josh Kerns has been a strong housing advocate focused on economic development, fiscal responsibility, and bringing more transparency to County government. Elected in 2016, Kerns will advance to the General Election with 64.16% of the vote. He will face Ted Cummings who received 35.56% of county votes.

 

Spokane County Commissioner Mary Kuney (R)

Mary Kuney will advance to the General election by winning 61.66% of the vote. The former Chief Deputy Auditor for Spokane County with the State of Washington is seeking re-election. She will face off against David Green, who advances to the general election with 38.07% of the vote.
